"Furious 7," Universal Studios Home Video, 137
minutes, Rated PG-13 for prolonged frenetic sequences of violence, action and
mayhem, suggestive content and brief strong language – The past catches up
with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest of
the crew when Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) sets out to avenge his brother. It's
non-stop action as the scene shifts from the United States to Europe to Dubai
and back to Los Angeles. The only help the crew can expect comes from "Mr.
Nobody" (Kurt Russell), a government agent who wants their assistance on a
mission. This one definitely deserves a look. Extras include three featurettes
and a making-of" short.
"Cinderella," Walt Disney Home Video, 105 minutes, Rated PG for mild
thematic element – In this live-action remake of the classic tale, young
Ella (Lily James) finds herself abused by her stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and
her stepsisters after her father dies. A servant in her own home, Ella still
maintains a cheerful outlook and a kind spirit. Her life changes, however,
after she meets a dashing stranger in the forest. This is great storytelling to
be able to shed new light on a classic. The transformation scenes, with Helena
Bonham-Carter as the Fairy Godmother, are delightful. Watch it with your
children, or watch it alone, but do watch it. Bonus materials include an
alternate opening, an animated short and several featurettes.
